This image depicts a wide landscape reminiscent of a beach or a tidal flat. The sky is rendered in specific shades of gray and blue through the use of particular color mixtures.
The ground is painted in warm, light ochre and reddish-brown tones, creating a tremendous sense of depth through the light reflections in the image. Here, too, Annette Brasch uses specially sieved natural stone pigments to give the painting the material quality and texture that make the movement and stillness of the tides at sea palpable.
Three small, dark figures can be seen in the distance, emphasizing a remote atmosphere. Clouds, water, and wide beaches symbolize pure life energy for Annette Brasch.
