With his works, Alain LL Marie aims to stimulate the viewer's inner dialogue in the spirit of "know thyself" through "provocative" photographs. To this end, the photographs always deal with emptiness, infinity, solitude, loneliness, or the aesthetics of ugliness. Slight computer-generated alterations illustrate that another reality can be hidden behind reality (according to Watzlawick). The idea is to question the viewer's beliefs.
Career:
The artist describes himself as rootless and a migrant in a double sense (professional and territorial).
Born in Marseille in 1946, he has lived in various cultures due to his studies and work: Canada, Germany, Holland, Austria and finally Germany again.
Alain Marie originally holds a doctorate in biochemistry (Canadian Ph.D. and French D.Sc.). He worked as a researcher for approximately 12 years in France, Canada, and Munich. He then worked in the patent field in The Hague and Munich. After retiring from his professional career, he devoted himself to his great passions: painting and photography.
