Minimalism was understood as a specifically American art movement that sought to distinguish itself from European traditions (such as Constructivism, concrete art, and Bauhaus painting). The artist takes up this tradition and reinterprets it. This allows Rolf Krieger to infuse each of his paintings with his own distinctive style and artistic sensibility. He skillfully utilizes the full range of possibilities offered by digital technology to explore new creative avenues.
The contours of the motifs emerge from the vertically and horizontally curved lines. Figures disrupt the strict lines of the work, yet simultaneously blend harmoniously into them. These contrasts lend the overall work the visual tension typical of the artist's works in this series.
