About the artist Thomas Dalecki
Thomas Dalecki works as a photographer with a clear focus on stillness, reduction, and atmosphere . His images are predominantly created using analog techniques , primarily in public spaces – often early in the morning, in fog, frost, or diffuse light – where places lose their function and become pure spaces.
He primarily photographs on black and white film and prefers to use medium and large format cameras . The deliberate slowing down of the analog process is a central component of his work: seeing, waiting, reducing. In certain cases, he supplements this approach with digital photography when it serves the subject and the image concept.
Thematically, his work ranges from landscapes and architectural fragments to everyday spaces. People are mostly absent, yet their traces are visible. The photographs don't depict events, but rather states of being – moments when movement pauses and a subtle tension arises.
